Explode Rebar: Break rebar sets into individual bars in Revit

Revit models rebar as sets — a single rebar element represents multiple bars distributed at a specified spacing. This is efficient for modeling, but there are situations where you need individual bars: custom tagging, per-bar editing, or detailed quantity breakdown. Explode Rebar by BIMStudio converts rebar sets into individual bar elements while preserving their geometry and properties.

What Explode Rebar does

Select a rebar set and the plugin breaks it into separate rebar elements — one for each bar in the set. Each resulting bar retains the original geometry, material, shape, and parameter values. The total quantity remains the same; the bars are now individually accessible.

How it works

1. Select one or more rebar sets in the model.
2. Open Explode Rebar from the BIMStudio ribbon tab.

4. Verify in 3D or section view that all bars are correctly positioned.
