Unhide Elements: Reveal all hidden Revit elements in one click
BIMStudio's Unhide Elements plugin reveals all hidden elements and categories in a Revit view instantly, preventing lost elements and missed coordination issues.

Hidden elements in Revit are invisible problems. A team member hides a wall during a design study, forgets about it, and months later the missing geometry causes a clash or a quantity gap. Unhide Elements by BIMStudio reveals everything that has been hidden in a view — elements, categories, and temporarily hidden items — so nothing stays lost.
What Unhide Elements does
The plugin scans the active view for all hidden elements and hidden categories, then unhides them in a single action. It works with elements hidden by the Hide Element command, hidden categories in Visibility/Graphics, and temporarily hidden elements via Isolate/Hide.
Key capabilities:
- Bulk unhide — reveal all hidden elements at once instead of one by one.
- Category detection — identifies categories that have been turned off in the view.
- Temporary hide/isolate — also resets temporary hide and isolate states.
- Report — lists what was hidden so you know what changed.
- Safe operation — only affects the active view, not global visibility settings.
How it works
- Open the view where you suspect hidden elements.
- Launch Unhide Elements from the BIMStudio ribbon tab.
- Review the summary of hidden items found.
- Click Unhide All — every hidden element and category becomes visible.
Why BIM teams use Unhide Elements
Prevent lost geometry
Hidden elements do not appear in schedules (unless the schedule is set to include hidden elements), do not participate in clash detection, and do not show in exports. Unhide Elements ensures nothing is accidentally invisible.
Faster model QA
Instead of manually checking Visibility/Graphics overrides and Reveal Hidden Elements mode for each view, run Unhide Elements once to see the true state of the model.
Clean view templates
When creating view templates, hidden elements from development sessions can carry over. Unhide Elements gives you a clean slate before saving a template.
Who benefits most
- BIM coordinators auditing views before issuing deliverables.
- BIM modelers cleaning up after design iterations.
- Project leads who need to verify complete model visibility.
- Anyone who has discovered a hidden element too late in the project.
