Wall Plaster: Add plaster layers to Revit walls automatically
BIMStudio's Wall Plaster plugin adds finish and plaster layers to Revit walls in batch, ensuring accurate material takeoff and wall section details.

Plaster and finish layers on walls affect material quantities, wall thicknesses, and construction details. Modeling them in Revit means editing wall types or adding wall sweeps — a repetitive task when you have dozens of wall types across a project. Wall Plaster by BIMStudio automates this by adding plaster or finish layers to selected walls in batch.
What Wall Plaster does
Select walls in your model and the plugin adds plaster layers with the thickness and material you specify. It modifies the wall compound structure or creates a new wall type variant with the finish layer included, depending on your preference.
Key capabilities:
- Batch application — add plaster to dozens of walls at once.
- Configurable thickness — set plaster thickness per face (interior, exterior, or both).
- Material assignment — choose the plaster material from your project materials.
- Selective application — apply to interior face only, exterior face only, or both.
- Quantity integration — plaster layers are included in material schedules and takeoff.
How it works
- Select the walls that need plaster layers.
- Open Wall Plaster from the BIMStudio ribbon tab.
- Set thickness, material, and which faces to plaster.
- Click Apply — plaster layers are added to each selected wall.
- Verify in a wall section detail and material schedule.
Why architecture teams use Wall Plaster
Accurate material takeoff
Plaster quantities matter for cost estimation. When plaster is part of the wall structure, schedules report it accurately — no separate manual calculation needed.
Correct wall sections
Detailed wall sections should show finish layers. Wall Plaster ensures the model matches the construction intent, producing sections that are ready for documentation.
Time saved on wall type editing
Manually editing wall compound structures for each wall type is slow and error-prone. The plugin handles the structural modification automatically across selected walls.
Who benefits most
- Architects modeling finish layers for documentation and takeoff.
- Quantity surveyors needing plaster quantities from the model.
- Interior designers specifying finish materials on wall faces.
- BIM modelers who need to add plaster layers across multiple wall types efficiently.
